The in-game interviews of basketball players and coaches between halves is annoying as a viewer, and I can only imagine they are for the players and coaches as well.
I know they have more or less signed up for this kind of thing in choosing their professions, but I’m glad I don’t have to deal with that nonsense on a daily basis.
Come out of a meeting, sweating and looking frustrated, to find a woman in a blazer holding a microphone:
“Phil I noticed that your presentation seems to be falling kinda flat in there. Definitely some glazed eyes. One guy openly asleep. Any hint on what might have to change when you come back from the restroom?”
“Well, it's no surprise that people are struggling, you know; it's right after lunch, the coffee maker is a mile away, and the lights are pretty dim. We knew all this coming in and we'll just have to adjust."
"You looked frustrated by the PowerPoint choices your team made early on. What was going through your head?"
"I keep telling my guys not to use too many float-in slide transitions, and we did, but we learn, that's what it's all about. We also knew Brian's questions were going to be weirdly off-topic and aggressive, and we just gotta be patient. There’s a lot of meeting left, I’m proud of my team, and we’re just gonna do what we came here to do.”
"Good luck, Phil"
Thanks for reading! May your day be free of court-side-style interviews.
Hah! These interviews always feel forced. They pain me. This was hilarious.
Very clever. You nailed it!
