Costco is where I now get my good church clothes. I call it COVID casual and it’s the only good thing that came out of COVID! Well, that and the acceptance of zoom to replace face-to-face meetings. Besides not giving 2 hoots about what I wear, that same sense of freedom crosses over to how I look in general. And (s)he who the Son sets free is free indeed :)
Yes! Agree on the clothes AND the zoom meetings! I have COVID to thank for my largely remote job. Turns out good employees can be trusted to do their work 😆.
And amen to the freedom we have! I read Tim Keller's book "The Freedom of Self-Forgetfulness" every few months to help it sink in. I'm not great at it yet, but age is helping!
Costco is a must for us aging folk. I’m also embracing flat shoes (honestly why heels?), the fact that I’m now a plant lady, driving a POS vehicle in lieu of a car payment, embarrassing my 9 year old by wearing a polo shirt or the wrong style sunglasses (🤷🏼♀️), and Ella Fitzgerald. (Ok ok, I’ve always loved Ella. But it feels more age appropriate now.)
Yes to all of this! (with the exception of the heels part - I have the same thought, but have never tried heels, and probably won't by this point). I hadn't even considered the plants, but my wife is a plant lady now. It's actually a lot of fun. "Autumn in New York" by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong have been in my rotation - you're right, it seems like it's more OK now? :)
Speaking of music, have you found yourself bemoaning the state of music today with your kids? The other day I asked my daughter if she ever listened to the lyrics of some of these songs, and her exact word were "I, mean, I know all the words but I never pay attention to them." As insane as that sounds, I kinda remember doing the same thing. I'll now listen to lyrics from songs from my era in the 80's and 90's and realize I had no idea at the time what they were talking about!
Oh totally. My daughter is super into Taylor Swift right now and she’s constantly singing along to these lyrics that are just 👀 but you’re right- we did it and they’ll do it too. Same thing with movies. We just have to hope they don’t “get it” for a long time. 😂 (also- don’t try heels. So overrated.)
I sport Costco joggers, loafers, and my husband celebrates their entire collection.
I love that I can now call it “The Costco Collection”!
